Our Roots and Legacy

The story of A Dog’s World began with Teresa’s childhood dog, Rex. A natural performer, Rex landed two commercials and was featured in several newspaper articles for his trick rep ertoire before Teresa was even a teenager! To this day, Rex remains the face of our mission—he is the silhouette featured atop the globe in our company logo.

We also fondly remember the incredible career of Teresa’s late partner, Leroy, a talented Border Collie who showcased the joy of positive training on David Letterman, Planet's Funniest Animals, and NBC’s Reality Show Greatest American Dog, numerous commercials and can still be seen on Norah Jones album cover, The Fall.

Teresa Hanula, CPDT, is the owner and head trainer at A Dog’s World Dog Training & Pet Care, Inc. With over 25 years of experience, Teresa’s philosophy is rooted in force-free, positive reinforcement. She believes that training should be a joyful, collaborative experience that teaches the dog to thrive, granting them the confidence and freedom to be a true companion in society.

Teresa’s professional journey is built on a foundation of continuous learning, having attended numerous conferences and seminars but noting Jean Donaldson’s San Francisco Academy for Dog Trainers and Bob Bailey’s Chicken Training Operant Conditioning Camp as two of her favorites! She is an active member of the APDT and PSI, and a proud evaluator for the AKC Canine Good and Trick Dog programs.

Leonard: Athlete, Artist, and World Traveler

That spirit of partnership continues today with Leonard, a gray and white Border Collie who is as much an artist as he is an athlete. A four-time Guinness World Record holder, Leonard’s resume includes:

Television & Media: Featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Live with Kelly and Ryan, America’s Got Talent, The Sara Silverman Show as well as numerous commercial appearances.

The Fine Arts: An accomplished abstract painter, Leonard’s work has been showcased in galleries across the United States and London! He even paints on horseback!

World Explorer: Together, Teresa and Leonard have visited all 50 states, eastern/western Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, and are currently expanding their adventures into Europe.
